On Sunday, April 26, 2026, the symposium “Genocide, Justice, and Reconciliation – From Seyfo to the Present”will be held at Hallunda Folkets Hus in Stockholm. The event is a joint initiative of the Assyrian National Federation in Sweden, Young Assyrians in Sweden, the Assyrian Women’s Federation in Sweden, the Seyfo Center, St. Jacob’s Cathedral in Södertälje, and Dr. Melek’s Homeland Fund.

Seyfo—the Assyrian word for “sword”—is the name our people have given to the genocide of 1915, when hundreds of thousands of Assyrians lost their lives. Although more than a century has passed, the issues of recognition, justice, and remembrance remain highly relevant today.

The symposium brings together many notable voices in the field. Speakers include Prof. David Gaunt, Dr. Zeki Yalcin, Dr. Anzhela Mnatsakanyan, Dr. Sabro Bengaro, Dr. Gabriel Oussi, researcher Feyyaz Kerimo, economist Emanuel Poli, and educator Denho Özmen. The program will be conducted in Swedish, with the exception of Dr. Mnatsakanyan’s presentation, which will be held in English.

“We come together to remember the past, understand the present, and take collective responsibility for the future.”

The event is open to the public, and everyone is welcome to attend. For more information and to register, please visit the Seyfo Center website.
