After a long wait, the book *Sayfo Rabo – The Massacres of Midyat and the Calamities of Tur Abdin* is now available in bookstores. Fadi Safar is responsible for the publication of the book and its English translation from the original Arabic.

Safar Safar (1921–2000) is the author of the original Arabic text. Safar is the grandson of the leader Hanna Safar, who was active in Midyat. The work chronicles the history of Tur Abdin from 1830 to 1915 and is based on the oral traditions that Safar preserved from his father, Abdel-Aziz. By transcribing these manuscripts, he saved a unique Assyrian history from being lost, giving us a deeper understanding of life in Midyat and our national context.
